This bike has many years worth of modifications and changes. I've been
racing this bike in the local vintage club in Arizona, AVDRA, since the
late 90's. This is a 1974 Maico Wheelsmith frame that I modified to
accept a 1980 Maico front end, 1980 Maico swingarm and a 1980 Honda
XL500s motor. Lots of other custom details. Deciding to keep the Maico
wheels meant moving rear brake and chain linkage/tensioning to other
side of bike, not an easy task. However, the bike runs great, 11 inches
of travel front and rear, Fox AirShox. Destined to become the family
heirloom when racing days fade in the, hopefully, distant future.
